“To think of something is easy but putting it into action is hard.” This quotation serves as enthusiasm to overcome challenges in life to attain my goals. My dream is to become an effective and efficient teacher to my future students.  I’ve been studying my expertise at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture for almost four years. From the four corners of CDE, we studied theories, research and methodologies in preparation to become an expert to my chosen field, Educational Media and Technology. Every education student should have an off-campus teaching because it is a prerequisite for us to graduate and apply our knowledge and skills during immersion.

I was given the chance to teach in Ocampo National High School. Last year, it was awarded as the Most Outstanding School in Bicol Region. There’s a pressure and excitement because it was my alma mater and considered as an exceptional school. Before the immersion starts, I put to my mind that I need to be open from criticisms and suggestions of my cooperating teacher and other teachers as well. I admit to myself that even though I studied for four years, I am still not expert to my specialization that’s why I will be willing to accept all their recommendations. I established to my mind that no matter what happened, giving up would never be an option.

During off-campus teaching, I honestly say that I’ve encountered ups and downs. I believed that every practice teacher experienced the same.  Sometimes I often came late at home and skipped meals just to finish all the requirements to be submitted on that day. Even if I experienced such, the learning’s that I’ve got from them are worth paying for. Little by little I realized how hard to become a teacher. Now I understand the situation that they had during our time. I keep on saying “arog palan kani”. Being a teacher you must have unlimited patience because every day is a challenge for you to overcome.
